The Moving Elements
In 'The Bridge', the two chosen moving elements consist of vertical louvres and an elevator. The vertical louvres line the West side of the lecture hall, and can be lowered to form a slitted roof above the central walkway. This also allows for more sunlight in the lecture theatre in the late afternoon as the sun sets.
The elevator is the second moving element, and forms the role of providing easier access to the lecture theatre for students and teachers. Whilst there are ramps and stairs throughout the building, the elevator serves a function for disabled people who may want a more quick and convenient path to the lecture hall, or up onto the walkway itself.
